Japan in Your Classroom volunteers
The Japan in Your Classroom (JIYC) scheme began as part of the Japan Festival 1991. Since then it has continued as one of Japan 21's (formerly JFET) core programmes.
 |
The JIYC scheme is possible thanks to the work of Japanese volunteers, who form groups in the areas in which they live. Group members make visits together to local pimary and secondary schools in order to give children an introduction to Japan. The activities in a JIYC visit are designed to enable children to 'experience' Japan and gain a greater understanding and appreciation of its culture. |
The pages in this section of the website are intended to support the JIYC volunteers, so are mostly in Japanese. They can be viewed via the links in the menu bar on the right.
If you have any queries about the JIYC scheme, please contact Hiroko Kimura. If you would like to book a visit for your school, please use the online application form.
